High-level quality without the premium
You work with consultants and firms who trained at leading consulting and technology houses and now work without the machinery around them. You pay for the work.
For companies
Work with vetted independent consultants and consulting firms, matched to your brief. You pay for their work, not the branding, and you see the full price before you sign.
How it works
Send us a short brief. A few paragraphs on what is happening and what you want to change is enough. The problem statement comes in the next step, so you can start rough. If you already know the role you need, say so, and we keep the next step short.
Before the call you can run the brief through our AI intake, which returns a first cut at the scope, so the conversation starts from something written down. The Legate team then works through it with you in one conversation: the outcome you want, what falls outside it, your budget, your timing and what your own team covers. You leave with a brief you can act on, and in many cases a smaller one than you came in with.
Every brief involves trade-offs. Tell us what you weight highest: speed, sector depth, cost, on-site presence or working style. We match on your ranking, so a candidate who scores on what you care about outranks one who looks good on paper.
Tell us the pace your organisation can keep, too. Two days a week for ten weeks and five days a week for four weeks buy the same hours, and they suit very different teams.
From the sharpened brief we propose the shape of help that returns most on this problem, and we can deliver each one. A typical engagement for each:
We explain why we picked it. You can overrule us.
A vetted shortlist lands within two business days, with our reasoning per candidate and the full price per option. You pick, we contract through templated agreements, and you have a signed contract within two weeks of your choice. The Legate team runs the kick-off and checks in at agreed points until close.
You buy consulting and experience it as a luxury with a return you struggle to measure. Large firms sell one product: the multi-week project staffed as a pyramid, whether your problem needs a team, one specialist, or two hours of senior challenge.
The price arrives as a lump sum you cannot break down. You meet more generalists than experts, and a large share of the fee pays for the brand and the overhead behind it. Procurement now asks what the number covers before they sign it off, and you have nothing to show them.
Legate starts earlier. We help you name the problem before you buy anything, then propose the most efficient format that solves it.
A second opinion
Plenty of buyers reach us with a large firm's proposal on the desk. Send it over with the brief behind it. We read it against the problem and tell you where the shape fits and where it does not, and when it holds up we say that too. Our fee stays the same whatever the size of the team you end up with, so a smaller answer costs us nothing.
The questions we put to every proposal. You can put them yourself:
What you get
You work with consultants and firms who trained at leading consulting and technology houses and now work without the machinery around them. You pay for the work.
Defining the problem carries the most value and gets the least attention. Before we propose anyone, we work through your goal, your constraints, your budget and what your team covers, so you buy what the problem needs and nothing beyond it.
One specialist, a compact team, a boutique firm, or a senior advisor by the hour. We recommend the format your problem calls for, and we can deliver each of them.
We weigh sector context, comparable engagements, confirmed references, working style and availability, so the person suits your organisation as well as your brief.
You know what the consultant earns and what Legate earns before you sign. Our fee sits below what traditional intermediaries charge, and it stays the same whether you hire one person or six.
Framework agreements, statements of work and confidentiality terms come templated. From chosen candidate to signed contract takes under two weeks.
Wrong fit replaced, our fee returned
If the fit turns out wrong in the opening four weeks, we replace the person or team and give up our fee for that period.
Technology and AI work
Many AI consultancies bill like the pyramid they promise to replace: the team on your account grows, discovery runs for months, and the efficiency stays on a slide. We run technology and AI engagements the other way round. As the system takes on the work, our consultants step back, and your invoice drops with them.
We start with a workflow your people run every week and a figure you already report on, such as days to close the books or hours per claim. You sign off on the baseline before anyone builds.
The first version runs on your own data within two to four weeks, with its errors on the table. If it will not hold, you find out for the price of a month and stop there.
A tool that saves hours leaves your cost base where it was until someone redesigns the roles and the process around it. We put operations, finance and change specialists next to the builders to do that part.
Each engagement names the person on your side who owns the system and plans how our people leave. We call it done when your team runs and changes it without calling us.
Ask any AI vendor whether a successful year leaves more of their people on your account or fewer. We write our answer into the plan before the work starts.
Why trust us
Our team worked as consultants at large consulting firms. We know where engagements go wrong: the wrong format, the vague brief, the fit that looked fine on paper. We built matching and oversight around those failures.
AI handles the intake, drafting and invoicing. People handle scoping, vetting and oversight. That keeps our cost base small, so our fee sits below what traditional consulting firms and platforms charge. A traditional firm earns more with every person it adds to the proposal. Our fee stays the same on a team of one or six, so a smaller team costs us nothing. You see the consultant's rate, our fee and any other cost before you sign.
If the fit turns out wrong in the first four weeks, we replace the person or team and give up our fee for that period. A bad match costs us before it costs you.
A person verifies every reference before a consultant enters the network. Our team validates every shortlist before you see it. The Legate team runs the kick-off and checks in during delivery, and steps in when the work drifts.
Questions
We score candidates on sector context, comparable engagements, confirmed references, working style, availability and rate. The Legate team reviews that list and validates the shortlist by hand. You receive it with reasoning per candidate.
You pay the consultant's rate plus a Legate fee per engagement, below what traditional intermediaries charge. The Legate fee stays the same whether you pick one specialist or a team of six. Frequent buyers can take a subscription that lowers the per-engagement rate. You see the breakdown before you sign.
Management, technology and AI consulting. Strategy, operations, finance, interim leadership and change sit on one side; system choices, data, architecture and AI implementation on the other. Plenty of problems need both, and we can staff them on one engagement.
Yes, for research, first drafts, models and data work. You hire them for the part a model handles badly: choosing between options, testing the numbers behind a confident answer, and knowing which recommendation your organisation will carry out.
We interview each consultant, verify references by hand, and check registration and insurance. After each engagement we collect structured feedback, and we remove people whose delivery falls short.
If the fit turns out wrong in the first four weeks, we replace the person or team and give up our fee for that period. After that window, the Legate team stays involved and helps you correct course or restaff.
You do. The statement of work assigns the work product to you. Consultants keep the methods and tools they built before the engagement.
We structure engagements as outcome-based statements of work and screen risky constructions before contracting. When an independent setup would not hold, we deliver through a firm instead.
We contract through our framework agreements and statements of work, or through your own procurement. A licensed payment provider handles the money. Legate holds no client funds.
We process briefs and documents under GDPR, store them within the EU, and share them with candidates after you approve. Confidentiality terms cover every engagement.
The Legate team owns your engagement from kick-off to close. You get a name and a number.
