For consulting firms

Grow your practice without hiring ahead of demand

Shape the team to each project, with vetted specialists for as long as the work calls for them. Receive briefs that fit your practice, and find paid work for your people in the weeks between projects.

How it works

Five steps to put your practice on the network.

  1. 01Register your practice

Tell us what your practice does, who is on the team and how you want to use the network: fill gaps, win briefs, put quiet capacity to work, or all three. Registration takes one conversation. You choose what you switch on, and you change it as your pipeline moves.

  2. 02Pull talent when you need it

A client wants to start next week and you sit one person short. Request a vetted independent, screened on skills, sector and working style against your brief, and receive options within days. Everyone we send went through the same review: references verified by hand, registration and insurance checked. Contract through our client agreements or run your own paper.

  3. 03Offer quiet capacity

Flag consultants between projects as available for Legate engagements. You set the terms: rate, duration, topics and how much notice you need to pull someone back. Withdraw a name the moment your own pipeline fills. Your people stay your employees, and we pay your firm for their work.

  4. 04Receive demand

Two streams reach you. Client briefs that fit your specialisation arrive structured and scoped, so you decide per brief whether to pitch and you skip the vague RFPs. Requests for your available consultants arrive when a Legate engagement fits them, and you accept or decline each one. For questions too large for one practice, we propose you pitch with a complementary firm, with roles and fees agreed before anyone starts.

  5. 05Track what you earn

Placements you won, revenue from consultants on Legate engagements and shares from clients you introduced sit in one ledger. When a client you brought into the network engages someone else through Legate, you receive an agreed share, and the ledger shows who introduced which relationship and what it earned. You see every fee before you commit, including ours.

The consulting firm growth trap

Growing means hiring ahead of demand, and each dip in utilisation cuts into margin. A client says start next week, and you spend days calling contacts and rewriting CVs to fit the project.

Winning work means pitching against vague briefs, and each new client triggers weeks of supplier onboarding before you bill an hour.

When your own client needs something outside your range, you stretch past your strengths or hand the relationship away for nothing.

How to make use of Legate

Five ways to use one account

Switch between them as your pipeline moves. Getting started takes one conversation: you tell us your specialisations and your team, and you choose which of these you switch on.

When we send a brief to a firm

Some briefs need a firm, and we tell the client so. Forty people in five countries on the same Monday calls for a bench that already stands. A board or a regulator that wants an established name on the cover needs a firm that carries one.

Programmes that run for two years and change shape along the way belong with a firm as well, since the firm keeps continuity inside its own staffing. We route briefs like these to the firms on the network that fit them, or put several practices together when one cannot carry the work alone.

When a brief needs a firm, we send it to the firms on the network, and yours can be one of them.

Why trust us

Built by people who have run the same P&L

We know the numbers of a practice

Our team sold and delivered consulting solutions from inside. We know what a quarter of low utilisation does to margin, what a vague RFP costs in pitch hours, and how many weeks supplier onboarding takes before you bill an hour. We built the firm side of Legate around those numbers.

Every fee before you commit

You see our share on every placement, every capacity engagement and every introduction before you say yes. The ledger records who introduced which relationship and what it earned, and everyone involved can see it.

Contract your way

Use our client agreements to skip supplier onboarding and start in days, or run your own paper. Your consultants stay your employees on every engagement, and we pay your firm for the work.

No claim on your clients or your people

We hold no exclusivity. Your clients stay yours, your pipeline stays yours, and you decide per consultant and per month what you put into the network. Confidentiality terms cover briefs in both directions.

Questions

Frequently asked

You bring a client into the network. When that client engages another consultant or firm through Legate, you receive an agreed share. The ledger shows who brought which relationship and what it earned, and we agree the percentage with you up front.

Yes. Contract through our client agreements to skip supplier onboarding, or run your own paper. Both work.

You pay a success-based amount when we place work with you. You see the full breakdown on every engagement, including our share.

The same way we vet everyone. We interview each consultant, verify references by hand, and check registration and insurance, then screen for skills, sector and working style against your request.

They stay your employees. The client contracts the engagement through our agreements or yours, and we pay your firm for their work.

Engagements delivered through your firm fall outside the self-employment risk that worries clients. For independents, we screen risky constructions before contracting.

No. Your clients stay yours, your pipeline stays yours, and you decide per consultant and per month what you put into the network.

Confidentiality terms cover briefs in both directions. The ledger records who introduced which relationship, so you keep the credit for it.

The Legate team owns each engagement, and your practice gets a fixed contact for everything else.

Put your practice on the network. Busy months, you pull from it. Quiet months, you feed it.
